Royal Ascot has seen another adolescent champion, with Irish born 18 year old Billy Loughnane following in the footsteps of Lester Piggott.

The teenage jockey began racing in 2022 and became the youngest jockey to ride in a British classic since Piggott, when he competed at Newmarket in May of the following year. Loughnane triumphed in his first professional Royal Ascot contest in June 2024, winning the Group 2 Coventry race on Rashabar against 80-1 odds.
