Sir Lenny Henry partners with the NHS to promote Covid-19 vaccine

30 03 2021

Celebrities including Sir Sir Lenny Henry, Adrian Lester, David Harewood, and Adjoa Andoh, star in a short film directed by BAFTA winner Amma Asante, in partnership with the NHS, urging Black Britons to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

The film is inspired by Henry's open letter to the Black British public, signed by stars including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Trevor Nelson, KSI, and Malorie Blackman, following statistics which show only 49% of Black or Black British adults intend to have the vaccine. Henry commented 'I felt it was important to do my bit and so I wrote this letter to Black Britain asking people not to get left behind, to not continue to be disproportionately impacted and to trust the facts from our doctors, professors and scientists, not just in the UK but across the world, including the Caribbean and Africa'.
