Tia Adeola, a Nigerian born, London raised designer now based in New York, made her solo debut on the runway at New York Fashion Week earlier this year with her eponymous brand, formerly Slashed By Tia.
Created in her college dorm room in 2017 after being inspired by her art history background, Adeola has become known for her over the top, Renaissance influenced ruffles and pearl adorned garments, worn by Gigi Hadid, Indya Moore and SZA. Described by Teen Vogue as being ‘ready to be one of the greatest female couture designers in the world’, Adeola says her aim is to make bold, wearable art for women while ‘rewriting history’ by placing people of colour in visual campaigns they’re often left out of. Most recently, Adeola has made headlines in fashion publications including Dazed, WWD and NYLON for both discussing diversity in the fashion industry in light of the Black Lives Matter movement and her tulle, ruffle-lined coronavirus facemasks.
