Cate Blanchett collaborates with UNHCR and IMDb

20 04 2020

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett has partnered with the organisation and IMDb, recommending six films for homebound film-lovers during the Covid-19 crisis.

The Films Of Hope watchlist, curated by Blanchett, focuses on films which 'explore themes around human resilience, isolation and what it means to have hope and a home', including titles such as News from Home and The Joy Luck Club, and the Australian actress commented 'Covid-19 has affected all of us and we have seen what it has done in countries with strong and robust health care systems but now we’re seeing the spread to countries with weaker systems and it's putting the lives of millions at risk'. Other celebrities including Ben Stiller and Don Cheadle have taken to social media to support UNHCR, making their own film suggestions, and #FilmsOfHope with Blanchett continues on IMDb this Thursday (April 23).
