Jiaye Wu, a fashion influencer based in Shanghai and New York, had her annual routine of travelling between cities for various fashion weeks disrupted when the coronavirus hit her family home near Wuhan in China.
Although the lockdown has now been lifted in the area, Wu has spent the last two months adapting and changing her routine to keep up her social media presence, despite strict quarantine measures and a food shortage which lasted ten weeks and saw her resort to skipping meals. Supported by brands including Lululemon, Puma, adidas and Miu Miu, Wu focused on ‘at home’ looks, work-out videos and hosting live-stream events for designer brands including 8on8, with more brands approaching her for projects since. Now out of lockdown, business has almost completely gone back to normal for Wu, who most recently worked to promote Burberry in Shanghai.
