Erling Braut Håland, Norwegian professional footballer, has emerged as the most exciting young striker in European football this season.
The son of former professional footballer Alf-Inge Håland, Håland began his career at Bryne FK, but it would be his move to Austrian club Red Bull Salzberg in January 2019 that would see the precocious talent explode on European football’s highest stage. After scoring 11 goals in his first seven games of the 2019/20 season for Salzberg, Håland would mark his Champions League debut with a stunning hattrick against Genk. The scoring streak would continue in the next two rounds against Liverpool and Napoli, making Håland the first player ever to score six goals in his first three appearances in the competition. In January 2020, Borussia Dortmund would swoop in to sign the teen for €20 million, but a change of scenery couldn’t slow Håland’s remarkable goal scoring pace, marking his Bundesliga debut with a hattrick in just 23 minutes. At only 19 and with the biggest clubs in world football watching him closely, Håland seems destined to become the next global superstar of the sport.
