The Royal Mint has announced Queen as the first British band to be celebrated with an official UK coin collection.

The coins, first in a new Music Legends series, pay tribute to each band member's contribution to the group through the depiction of their different instruments, and lead guitarist Brian May said 'When we began as Queen, even the first rung of the ladder to recognition seemed remote and unreachable. To have our band recognised and our music celebrated in this way is very touching - a real honour'.
