Jo Ellen Pellman, an up-and-coming New York based actress, has landed her debut film role as the lead in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming screen adaptation of Tony-nominated musical, The Prom, launching on Netflix in autumn 2020.
The US newcomer, who made minor TV appearances in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Deuce earlier this year, completed her training at both The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and The University of Michigan, starring in the latter institution’s stage productions of Me and My Girl, The Drowsy Chaperone and Grand Concourse. In what’s set to be her breakthrough role, Pellman starts filming next month, joining a previously announced stellar cast including Meryl Streep, James Corden, and Nicole Kidman.
