Maja Kristina, 21, a Swedish singer/songwriter, was introduced to lyricism as a child, while her dad was working as an in-demand songwriter, and recalls penning her first song ‘about a farm’ at just seven years old.
After she graduated from music school, one of Kristina’s demos made its way to veteran A&R executive Eddie O’Loughlin as a potential cut for Felix Jaehn, however, after it was decided it suited her voice best, she launched her own pop career with the single No Fake Love in 2018, amassing a total of 5m Spotify streams in the space of a few months, and signed with Eddie O Entertainment/Republic Records. Taking inspiration from The Beatles, The Who and Labrinth, Kristina’s recently released follow-up track, Idiot, uses confessional lyrics to document a ‘love gone wrong’, and in 2020 the Stockholm resident plans to launch her debut EP.
