Camryn Garrett, a 19 year old American author, has entered the world of young adult fiction with her powerful debut novel, Full Disclosure, about a black teen born HIV positive, and has been praised by critics for giving depth to stigmatised issues and sex positivity.
At 13, she was selected as a TIME for Kids reporter, interviewing celebrities including Kristen Bell and Warren Buffett, and her writing has appeared on MTV, Huffington Post and Rookie magazine, leading to her being named one of MTV’s 8 Inspiring Teens Using Social Media to Change the World and one of Teen Vogue’s 21 Under 21: Girls Who Are Changing the World. This month Garrett joins author Alice Oseman for her only UK public event to discuss her novel as well as diversity within YA.
