Alistair Brownlee named Active Travel ambassador of Leeds

30 08 2019

British triathlete Alistair Brownlee has been appointed as the first ever Active Travel ambassador for Leeds, aiming to encourage people of the city to incorporate walking and cycling into their day-to-day commutes, as opposed to using cars.

Brownlee, who cycled part of the new £7.9m cycle superhighway in Leeds last week, is 'looking forward to the opportunity', and commented 'As someone who trains nearly every day on the roads of Leeds and used to cycle to school, I am really passionate about promoting the opportunities that are available for people to be able to cycle or walk as part of their day-to-day journeys'.
