Kida Kudz, a Nigerian born rapper who moved to the UK aged 11, grew up with traditional West African musical influences, later becoming a fan of US hip-hop, and was inspired by a variety of artists including Haruna Ishola and Lil Wayne.
In 2010, he was crowned winner of Nigeria’s Peak Talent Show, eclipsing 8000 acts from 11 cities including Kaduna and Lagos. Since then, Kudz, born Olukayode Odesanya, has brought his neo-Afropop style back to the UK, collaborating with the likes of Wiley and Ms Banks, and released his intercontinental anthem Jiggy Bop, with the video shot between Lagos and London. Earlier this year, Kudz performed at Afro Nation Festival in Portugal, alongside Afrobeats stars Wizkid and Burna Boy, and inked a deal with Disturbing London and Warner Music UK, which will see him release three projects with the major label.
