Kayli Carter, a practically unknown actress before starring in Netflix's Private Life, earned herself a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards, competing against established stars such as a Regina King and Tyne Daley.
The Florida born 25 year old, who trained at The Savannah College of Art and Design, bagged her nomination for her performance as an impetuous college student who becomes a surrogate mother to an infertile older couple, played by Paul Giamatti and Kathryn Hahn, in Oscar nominated Tamara Jenkins’s comedy drama, which debuted on the streaming service last year. Her next role will see her play Squeaky Fromme, one of Charles Manson’s acolytes, in upcoming crime drama Charlie Says, also starring Suki Waterhouse, Matt Smith and Hannah Murray.
