Lauren Singer, former sustainability manager at NYC's Department of Environmental Protection, has been referred to as the 'face of zero waste', after launching her blog Trash is for Tossers in 2012.
She first gained attention hosting a TEDxTeen seminar in 2015, where she illustrated how she'd limited the rubbish she'd produced in one year to fit inside a 16 oz mason jar. Educating her 267k Instagram followers on living a zero waste lifestyle, from razors to sanitary products, the Brooklyn based entrepreneur has gone on to create The Simply Co, manufacturing organic, vegan cleaning products, and she opened her Package Free Shop in 2017. Next up Singer is launching her Zero Waste Dining Series and panel discussion in New York, in collaboration with restaurant Silo Brighton, this month.
