Eliza Scanlen, recognised for playing Tabitha Ford in the Australian soap Home and Away, has landed a lead role opposite Amy Adams in HBO's new series, Sharp Objects, based on the book by bestselling Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn.

Airing in July, the eight part drama follows crime reporter Camille Preaker (Adams), who rekindles relations with her estranged teenage sister Amma Crellin (Scanlen) as she investigates the murders of two young girls in her home town. The Sydney born actress, 19, previously appeared in the short films Grace and Lacuna, as well as a cameo in the comedy series Do You Mind?.
