Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has been named a global ambassador for the Special Olympics, and will work with the organisation to promote the development of its programmes which aim to empower and create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
The organisation's CEO, Mary Davis, commented 'Didier Drogba is a global icon in sports and especially in promoting peace and understanding.... Our effort in creating inclusive communities will be accelerated through this relationship, and we are confident Didier will have a life-changing experience with Special Olympics athletes worldwide'.
