Ari Aster, 31, is a first time US filmmaker credited with creating 'the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages' with his feature length debut, Hereditary.

Starring Toni Collette and Gabriel Byrne, Aster's film (which he describes as 'a meditation on grief and trauma') left audiences speechless following its premiere at SXSW and Sundance this year, with viewers calling it 'two breathless hours of escalating terror'. The horror, which promises to make Aster the next rising star of the genre, centres around a family which begins to unravel following the death of their reclusive grandmother, and is released in the UK June 15.
