Ten year old singer and actor JD McCrary made headlines earlier this month when he was announced as the voice of Young Simba in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s The Lion King, joining an impressive line-up which includes Beyoncé Knowles, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino), the latter of whom McCrary has already worked with on the 2016 track Terrified.

With a singing slot on Little Big Shots, and minor roles in TV series Teachers and I’m Dying Up Here already under his belt, as well as a part in the upcoming series The Paynes in the pipeline, Disney’s anticipated blockbuster, set for a 2019 release, is set to be the young actor’s debut on the big screen.
