Indianapolis born author Jay Coles's first novel Tyler Johnson Was Here, released March 2018 with Little, Brown, has already generated a tremendous amount of buzz throughout the book industry, and is set to be one of the breakthrough debut young adult books of the year.

Following the story of Marvin Johnson, whose twin Tyler goes to a party and never comes home, the novel is inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, and tackles themes of police brutality, grief and family. Coles is also a music composer, known for his work published with Carl Fischer Music and C L Barnhouse Company.
