British photographer Rankin has announced the launch of a new photographic book, This Is Britain, to be published in aid of Children in Need this Christmas, and is urging the public to get involved by submitting images which represent a day in the life of the people and communities that make up the UK, between October 20-22.

The winning 500 images will be selected to feature in the book, and Rankin commented 'Holding a mirror up to ourselves at a pivotal moment in our history - This Is Britain will provide an honest yet inspirational visual answer to the burning question: "Who are we?". It will be a celebration of the extraordinary spectrum of colours and characters that make up our multicultural society - as well as the central commonality of identity and humanity that binds us together as a country'.
