British chef and writer Lopè Ariyo has gone from studying for a maths degree at Loughborough University to creating a successful food blog, cooking what she loves and writing a book.

The 24 year old is known for her Nigerian food and won a book publishing competition with Red Magazine in 2016, following the search for a chef who could ‘break an African cuisine into the home kitchens of the UK’. Her book deal with Harper Collins has seen Ariyo write Hibiscus, out later this year. Red Magazine compared the blogger to Persian chef Sabrina Ghayour, promising that she will ‘get us thinking about using flavours differently’.
