Seoul born writer Krys Lee's debut novel How I Became A North Korean was released August 18 with Faber & Faber, to praise from readers, critics and fellow writers, including Yiyun Li, who called it 'a brave and moving novel', and Gary Shteyngart, who said 'This is one of the best books I’ve read in a good long while'.

Following three characters whose lives converge as they struggle for survival at the border between China and North Korea, this haunting and vivid novel is a literary triumph. Lee, also known for her short story collection Drifting House, has created a cast of characters that's sure to resonate with all her readers in one of the best debuts of 2016.
