Scottish comedian and BBC Radio 4 panellist Susan Calman has been announced as the host for new CBBC show Top Class, which will air in September.

The 'competitive knock-out' series sees 16 schools battle it out to be crowned the smartest school in Britain, and Calman commented 'I had so much fun testing these fabulously talented kids; they constantly amazed me with their determination, competitiveness and all-round cleverness! I learned more from them than they did from me!'.
