The White Stripes frontman Jack White has been announced as a member of the Nashville Gender Equality Council by Nashville mayor Megan Barry.

White will assist an advisory group on gender equality in Nashville, and provide 'information, advice, research, and programme recommendation' to the mayor in a bid to address issues such as salaries and wages, economic opportunities, family services, health, and safety.
