Actress and activist Dame Joanna Lumley and director Danny Boyle have voiced their support for a fundraising initiative by the family of stuntman Mark Sutton, who took on the role of James Bond at the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
Sutton died the following year as a result of a wingsuiting accident in France. In memory of Sutton, his family are undertaking a 1000km bike ride from his home in Shere to his place of death in Chamonix, raising funds for The Gurkha Welfare Trust's earthquake response in Nepal. Sutton served for several years with the Gurkhas, and Gurkha Welfare Trust vice patron Lumley commented 'On behalf of The Gurkha Welfare Trust I want to say how hugely appreciative we are; the money raised will support our old Gurkha soldiers and their communities in Nepal, who need our help now more than ever'.
