Debut novelist Emma Cline has been hailed as one of the book industry's most important and exciting young writers, after signing a book deal reportedly worth $2m in 2014.

The Girls, released this summer by Chatto & Windus, is set in California in 1969, telling the story of teenage girl drawn into a cult led by a charismatic leader, with similarities to the Manson family. Hailed as 'a thrilling new voice in American fiction' by bestselling author Jennifer Egan, Cline is absolutely one to watch.
