London-based fashion designer Hannah Jinkins is on the fast track to creating her own label, after winning the H&M Design Award in early December.

Fascinated by the beauty in the used, damaged or broken, the Royal College or Art graduate presented a sculptural and androgynous collection with deconstructed selvedge denim, a coated boiler suit and a striking orange mohair jumper, all embellished with worn brass staples, which impressed the influential judges - photographer Nick Knight, actress Kate Bosworth, blogger Chiara Ferragni and Balmain's Olivier Rousting, who said ‘She works with a tough fabric, yet somehow manages to make it sexy and glamorous at the same time’. The 24 year old takes inspiration from the Japanese art of mending pottery using staples and glue to explore the art of re-use and create contemporary garments. With her ingenuity, the fashion industry’s recognition and the opportunity to sell her winning collection at H&M in autumn 2016, Hannah Jinkins has certainly become a name to watch out for.
