BBC Newsnight's Political Editor Allegra Stratton has been announced as the new National Editor of ITV News, where she will analyse domestic and policy issues alongside newly appointed Security Editor Rohit Kachroo.

Stratton commented 'The recent changes to News at Ten herald a new era in TV news. What the team is aiming to do is one of the most interesting developments in my industry for a generation and I look forward to playing my part in building on its success'. Stratton's move echoes that of former BBC Economics Editor Robert Peston, who made a similar switch from the BBC to ITV in October when he replaced Tom Bradby as Political Editor.
