Corey Hawkins's face may already seem familiar to some with roles in blockbusters such as Non-Stop and Iron Man 3 already under his belt, however his latest film role will ensure that the young actor's name and face is one to remember.

Straight Outta Compton, released this summer in the UK, sees Hawkins play Dr Dre in a biopic of the 1980s hip-hop group NWA, and his performance in it has already been singled out by critics. That's perhaps not surprising considering the 26 year old Washington born actor showed promise from an early point in his career, emerging from the Juilliard School in New York with the prestigious John Houseman Award for excellence in classical theatre. After graduation he honed his craft with performances in Off-Broadway shows, which in turn lead to film and TV roles, and now hot on the heels of his success in Straight Outta Compton, Hawkins is set to star in King Kong prequel Kong: Skull Island alongside Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson.
