Mad Max: Fury Road actor Tom Hardy has joined forces with PETA for a pro-adoption campaign, encouraging people to adopt a shelter dog rather than buy from breeders or pet stores.

Hardy stars in a new ad with his dog Woodstock (or 'Woody' for short), a homeless dog he spotted running loose while filming Lawless in Atlanta, USA, in 2011, and then brought home to London. Other celebrities who've worked with PETA include Anjelica Huston, Pink, Charlize Theron, Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes.
