'Mildly experimental but wildly groovy' were the words Entertainment Weekly used to describe the sounds of Meklit Hadero.

Born in Ethiopia but based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the singer/songwriter focuses on lessons learnt on the journey of life in her music and releases her new album, We Are Alive, on May 4 through Six Degrees Records. Having worked alongside the likes of Quinn DeVeaux and Eli Crews to perfect her craft, 2015 will see Meklit, who became a TED Global Fellow in 2009, perform at the Southbank Centre and the Norwich Festival. Aside from music, the avid social activist and Yale graduate launched the UN Women's campaign for gender equality in Africa and co-founded the Nile Project.
