Zanny Minton Beddoes has been appointed as the first female Editor-in-Chief of The Economist, taking over from John Micklethwait.
Minton Beddoes, who starts her new job February 2, joined the publication in 1994 and was previously the business affairs editor, overseeing the weekly's business, finance, economics, science and technology coverage.
