Former X Factor star Nicholas McDonald has backed Yorkhill Children's Charity's Christmas appeal, with the charity aiming to raise £500k to pay for life saving neonatal equipment, such as ventilators and incubators.

McDonald, who suffers from the heart condition Long QT syndrome, commented 'As a wee boy I was in and out of Yorkhill a lot due to my condition. My wee brother Lewis and wee sister Antonia have also been in for various things, so it's great to be able to give something back to the charity and to the hospital. If it wasn't for the hospital, I might not be here today'.
