Zimbabwe born journalist Paula Hawkins's debut novel The Girl on the Train is set for release in January 2015 and follows on from the recent trend of popular domestic thrillers such as Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl and Harriet Lane's Her.

The novel, acquired by DreamWorks Studios earlier this year, is a gripping read described as a 'Hitchcockian thriller' by Variety and is set to appeal to fans of writers including Tana French, SJ Watson and Sophie Hannah. From the point of view of three female characters, The Girl on the Train explores themes such as obsession, infidelity and addiction as it follows the story of what happens when a seemingly perfect housewife goes missing.
