10 10 2014

Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi have been awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize for their fight against the suppression of children and young people, and for the right of all children to education.

Yousafzai, 17, has fought for several years for the right of girls to education and has become a leading spokesperson on the topic. She was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in Pakistan two years ago while on a school bus, and went on to release her memoir, I am Malala, detailing her experiences. Satyarthi has headed various forms of protests and demonstrations, focusing on the grave exploitation of children for financial gain.
