British-born American actress Katherine Waterston has acting in her veins; her father is Law & Order star Sam Waterson while her half-brother James Waterson is best known for his role in Dead Poets Society.

However the actress, whose mother is model Lynn Louisa Woodruff, is out to make a name for herself in her own right and has landed a number of major roles which just might see her do so. Following an appearance in series four of the critically acclaimed Sky Atlantic series Boardwalk Empire, Waterson was picked to play a major lead role in the eagerly anticipated Inherent Vice - opposite big names such as Joaquin Phoenix and Josh Brolin - and her performance in the 70s-set Californian noir, set for release in 2015, is already creating buzz. She looks to have cemented that success by landing a role in indie psychological thriller Queen of Earth next to Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss.
