The Great Gatsby actress Carey Mulligan has been announced as Global Ambassador for War Child, supporting the charity by presenting its Radio 4 appeal.

Mulligan said 'When I found out that there was a charity that focused on helping children to recover from the brutality of war, I knew immediately that I wanted to be involved. It's unbearable that the places that are being targeted are the very places that children should be safe. No child should be left to face war alone'.
