Evan Davis, best known as the host of BBC Radio 4's Today programme and Dragon's Den, has been appointed as lead presenter of Newsnight, anchoring the show three nights a week from the autumn.

Davis, who's also a former Economics Editor of both Newsnight and the BBC, said 'While it is a scary prospect, it will be an adventure and a challenge, and I hope the viewers will be happy with the result'. He joins the existing team of Kirsty Wark, Emily Maitlis and Laura Kuenssberg, who'll continue to present the show.
