World tennis number one and French Open champion Rafael Nadal has been announced as the new brand ambassador for Telefónica.

The partnership will run until 2020, with Nadal representing the company's networks in various countries, including Movistar, O2 and Vivo in Spain, the UK and Germany respectively. One of his chief projects with the company is the Rafa Nadal Academy By Movistar, which will open in his native Majorca to promote sport among children. Nadal will also collaborate with Movistar TV to produce content such as sports programmes and videos.
