Arizona native Kimiko Glenn landed her first major screen role last year when she joined Netflix smash hit prison drama Orange Is The New Black for its second season, which was released June 6.

Glenn, based in New York, played activist Brook Soso, who initially tried to befriend central character Piper before going on hunger strike to protest poor conditions in the prison. After spending most of her career thus far on stage, including a nationwide tour of Spring Awakening and participating in Shakespeare in the Park, Glenn, who's Asian American, told Cosmopolitan 'What I love about playing Brook is the fact that this is not an Asian stereotype'.
