New York novelist Emma Straub's second book The Vacationers has proved to be one of this year's most anticipated novels, hitting the New York Times Bestsellers list just days after its US release.

The book - which has received praise from writers such as Elizabeth Gilbert, who described Straub as 'a gorgeous and witty storyteller', and Where'd You Go, Bernadette? author Maria Semple - is a tale of tangled relationships and infidelity between a family of holidaymakers in Mallorca. Brooklyn based Straub, who's been published in Vogue, New York Magazine and The New York Times, has already released a novel and a short story collection, but looks set to hit the big time with her new release.
