The Cystic Fibrosis Trust has announced The Prince of Wales as its new patron as it marks its 50th year, succeeding Princess Alexandra who's been the trust's patron for almost 47 years.

He commented 'Having for so long felt deeply about the suffering of cystic fibrosis patients, I am delighted to take on patronage of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust... By funding ground-breaking research, improving the quality of care and providing invaluable advice and support, the trust carries out extraordinary work on behalf of the 10,000 people with cystic fibrosis in the United Kingdom'.
