Dame Joanna Lumley, Ricky Gervais, Chris Packham and Peter Egan are among celebrities who've joined forces with the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) to call for an end to the 'cruel capture and use of wild baboons in disturbing experiments' in Kenya.
BUAV's latest investigation, Captive Cruelty, highlights the 'outdated' legislation relating to animal experiments in Kenya, including UK researchers using the laws as a loophole for their own experiments after using wild-caught primates in research was banned in the UK in 1995. Gervais described the findings as 'distressing' and said 'I hope that the findings of this investigation will make a real difference to stopping the practice in Kenya and other countries'.
