Dan Wootton has been announced as The Sun's new Head of Showbiz following the departure of Bizarre Editor Gordon Smart, who's been appointed Editor of The Scottish Sun.

Wootton joined News of the World in 2007 and was the paper's Showbiz Editor until its closure in 2011, when he went on to work on Now Magazine, The Daily Mail and ITV1's Lorraine. Smart joined The Sun's Bizarre column in 2004 after working as a reporter in Dundee for The Courier and The Evening Telegraph. Both take up their new roles in November.
