BBC Young Musician, a contest for young classical musicians, has announced former winner and violinist Nicola Benedetti as ambassador.

Benedetti, who celebrates the 10th anniversary of her win next year, is to return to Usher Hall in Edinburgh for the final in May 2014, and commented 'I'm hugely excited to be returning to the familiar environment of the BBC Young Musician... This competition is one of the greatest examples of the UK's commitment to developing young musicians'.
