Manchester-born Menelik overcame a tough childhood and, after a broken ankle shattered his dream of becoming a basketball player, took up American football in 2011 at the age of 22.
He was selected by NFL team Oakland Raiders early in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and looks set to be featured on UK sports pages when the new season starts in September.
