Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba, who suffered a cardiac arrest in March during Bolton's FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur, has announced his retirement from professional football.

The announcement comes on the recommendation of his medical team, following consultations with cardiologists in the UK and Europe. He stated 'Above all else, I love the game and count myself very lucky to have been able to play at the highest level'.
