Carey Mulligan has become the latest ambassador for Alzheimer's Society, kicking off her new role with an appearance at the charity's Rest-Bite centre in Kentish Town, to mark the beginning of Dementia Awareness Week (until May 26).
The BAFTA-winning actress, whose grandmother was diagnosed with the condition in 2004, said 'My family and I rely on the help of organisations like Alzheimer's Society to help us understand the disease and guide us in the care of my grandmother. This Dementia Awareness Week we are asking people to 'remember the person' by looking beyond someone's diagnosis of dementia and engaging with them'.
