The Heritage Lottery Fund has awarded a £10m grant to the new World Conservation and Exhibition Centre at the British Museum.
The centre is due to open in spring 2014 with a special exhibition on the Vikings, and will continue to house state-of-the-art laboratories and studios for preservation and research projects.
