Following the success of the Independent's sister newspaper, i, the paper launches a Saturday one-section edition May 7, costing 30p.

Since its launch last October, i's achieved a circulation of 172,250, and a joint circulation of 355,000 with The Independent. Simon Kelner, Editor-in-Chief, stated 'demand from readers has been such that this is a no brainer, and we are looking forward to producing a quality one-section companion to the weekend'.
